The Spatial Results Tab
SQL Server Management Studio 2008 introduces a new feature, the Spatial Results tab, which allows you to visualise the results of ad-hoc spatial queries directly in SQL Server Management Studio. To see the new Spatial Results tab, you simply need to execute and SELECT query that selects at least one column of geometry or geography data.
In this chapter, I'll tell you more about the Spatial Results tab, including how to choose different projections of geography data, how to label features in the results, and how to pan and zoom around to help you understand the results of spatial queries.
Useful Datasets
You may find the following datasets useful, to provide a background map onto which to overlay any results displayed using the spatial results tab:
![]() Great Britain (geometry datatype, SRID 27700) |
![]() World Borders (geograpy/geometry datatypes, SRID 4326) |
![]() World Cities (geography/geometry datatypes, SRID 4326) |
